Day 17: A Slow Meatloaf Kind of Day

Today Marianne and Calvin head off to the Tolkamp family reunion. Tomorrow the Kennedy's depart and finally on Sunday the rest of us wrap it up for another year.

The weather is cool with on and off rain.  Overall though we have enjoyed many dry, sunny days.

It is a great day for meatloaf.

Marianne is not starting off the day well.

A trip around the lake in Mark canoe.

All good things must come to an end. The Tolkamps are off to a Tolkamp reunion . . .

Hugs for Grandma and Grandpa.

Bailey is not sure what all the fuss is about.

We all mill around for a while before the finally get underway.

Everyone has to wave them off.

They honk their horn for all they are worth on their way out. . . .

It's a good day for meatloaf.

Time for a few more sails.

Bye bye beer fridge.

Just having a good scratch by the side of the road.

Madiera Park Marina, Pender Harbour. The classic boats dock after an evening harbour parade to kick off Pender Harbour Days.

The Lady Jayne is looking fine.

Day 16: Rain, Rummoli and Fish and Chips at LaVerne's Grill

This morning the heavens gave forth and we all hunkered down in our trailers for the morning.

We took turns heading over to LaVerne's Grill for fish and chips so as not to overwhelm this small establishment. Yum!

Of course this means a short walk to the Garden Bay marina and a trip through John Henry's to touch everything and maybe get some goodies.

We ended the day with a rousing game of Rummoli and got out the umbrellas around the evening fire.

And the rains came down . . . . . .

Out came the fishermen but the fish were elusive.

Discussing the finer points of awning angles.

One big boat in Garden Bay.

There's nothing like fish and chips at LaVerne's Grill

Unless of course, you don't care for fish and chips. . . .

New owners means new decor at John Henry's. . .

This is one big egg. No wonder the box wouldn't close.

What happened to our sun?

Time for Rummoli under the awning.

My Mom caved and baked Chocolate Chip cookies to send back to the camp when the boys went over to have a shower at the cabin.

Emma is back for some campfire time and a hot dog.

Day 15: Pursuing our Leisure at Hotel Lake

It was a delightful camp day.  Not a single thing on the agenda yet somehow we managed to fill our time.  The ladies are lined up with front row seats to watch all manner of recreation.

Snorkelling, sailing, sunbathing, turtle hunting on the log, a float on the Party Dock or a ride in the kayak.

It's the Year of the Crock Pot and this mac and cheese recipe did not disappoint.
America's Test Kitchen Slow Cooker Revolution, rocks.
