Today we are implementing Part 1 of the Early Bird Gets the Worm Plan. Up at 6:30 am, on the bus and arriving at the gates in plenty of time for the 8 am opening for mere mortals who do not have a hotel key providing them with exclusive 7 am park access.
This was a much more civilized experience as compared to our first day at Disneyland where we arrived at 10:00 am thinking the entry lines would be shorter - no, not so much.
Making the most of the lightly populated park we hit the Fast Pass machine and skipped into short lines to get a rides on California Screaming Rollercoaster, Cars Radiator Springs Racers, Grizzly River Run, Goofy's Sky School, and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. The boys even went with me on The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure ride. Now that is taking one for the team. By lunch time we were back on the Disneyland side revisiting our favourites: Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones and Big Thunder Mountain.
We hopped a ride on the ART transit bus back to camp in the afternoon to lay low before heading back to the park in the evening. Everything looks different at night with the neon lights. With a Fast Pass for Star Tours in Disneyland and one for Cars' Radiator Springs Racers we by-passed long lines of tired guests. Why do so many people stand in long lines with no Fast Passes?!
Notice the inverted rollercoaster at the top of the yellow circle on the left. |
Despite being highly recommended, we really were not interested in the Tower of Terror. |
The shopping opportunities are endless. We stuck to Turkey Legs and a big pickle for Domo. |
