Day 1 and 2: Hotel Lake Here We Come. . . via Richmond

Before we hit the Happy Highway - Tim Horton's in West Kelowna.
every.single.time

Today we embark on our yearly trip to Hotel Lake, near Pender Harbour, on the Sunshine Coast. Lots of food preparation and shopping in the week before makes for full stomachs while camping over the next two weeks.

Day 1: Kelowna to Richmond

Day 2:  Richmond to Pender Harbour via BC Children's Hospital

Costco!

Packed up and ready to go.

Getting things ready for the freezer.

Dave's Fish and Chips in Steveston.

Richmond, BC.

Dinner out with Cousin Seth.

Parked by Mom and Dad's in Richmond for the night.

Scavenger hunt in Grandma's house for items they would like as they continue their summer time away.  Batteries, Bose speaker, mail, political books, home grown tobacco, yeast, Jesus signs, plant food. I am glad I am not crossing any borders as I am not sure how I would explain all this.

The purpose of our lay over in Vancouver - a visit to a classmate of Dominic's being treated for cancer. It was a blessing to be able to connect with this family in-person.

Lots of room for the Gypsy Wagon at BC Children's Hospital because it is Sunday.

This is a bittersweet photo. Same parking lot, visiting the same Children's Cancer ward for another of Dominic's classmates (July 2009) on the way to Hotel Lake. Happily, that friend is healthy as a horse now.

The ferry was unusually empty. Nice!

The double lanes on both the left and right side of the bottom deck - empty.

The final turn as we dock in Langdale looking east towards the Sea To Sky highway.

Watching the big doors open never gets old.

This Birdhouse on the body of a car being towed is par for the course on the Langdale ferry. There is always something unusual to see.

Site #5. It may be pouring rain but this is my happy place. The boys are communing with Grandma and Grandpa at the cabin and I am enjoying the lake.

We shall not be discouraged!
