Day 3: Camp Life

Two eagles perch on the rock in front of the cabin early in the morning. What a rare and fitting sight on Mom and Dad's 56th Wedding Anniversary.

On our first full day at Hotel Lake we crammed in as many experiences as possible. Boats, food, dogs, and rest.

Bentley was in no rush to get up this morning. Neither were we.

A somewhat moist and grey beginning to the day.

Costco Hash with added sausage and peppers.

Bacon makes everything better.

Jordan.

Getting the slingshots shipshape.

Fynn.

And, Luna.

As the Lady Jayne is expected to be launched this coming week, we gathered at the cabin to watch the Annual Malaspina race. With very light winds, it was an unremarkable start which made us feel just a little bit better about not being on the water this year.

Alex brought his breakfast along.

The annual watercraft round up begins.

All hands on deck to get the Laser down.

Lunch: Thai Chicken Soup

Samples at the John Henry's check-out turned out to be an effective marketing ploy. "Two of these are coming with me."

Seth and Taryn arrive. Thankfully, no rain this year on their ride up!

It is time to get on the water.

Light, swirly winds do not damped the maiden voyage of the Laser in Hotel Lake.

Ninja throwing stars crafted from old circular saw blades. Fun!

Brian and Renata.

Three teens who did not want to come seem to have spent the better part of the afternoon having a happy time on the dock at Irving's Landing. Dominic is holding a round power magnet in his hand that is attached to a very long rope. They dropped this off the dock to see what they might attract. An object of interest was half a muscle shell that appeared to be filed with iron. Explain that!?

Mom and Dad come to the lake before dinner to visit.

Marianne - looking like she is up to no good.

Operation Let's Socialize the Dog. Nope, Luna was having none of it.

Tristan. Proof that they will always come back when hungry

Ashton and Dominic.

Dinner: Steaks, Baked Potato and with bacon bits and corn. We have receive a formal request not to cook upwind from Marianne and she has been found to be drooling all day.

Grandpa proclaims his love for his bride of 56 years before dinner.

And so ends our first, very full, day at Hotel Lake.
