Field of Dreams: Chase Stadium Tour, Reds vs. Padres in Peoria

Catching the action, up close and personal, at Peoria Field.

Today we toured Chase Field which is the home stadium for the Arizona Diamondbacks. This team has been here for only 20 years. They are noted for winning the World Series in just their fourth season as an MLB franchise.

In the evening, we went to Game #2:  Cincinnati Reds vs San Diego Padres at Peoria.

Perfecting our 'slow'. Some morning marking while Alex greets the day slowly. He is under that pile of blankets somewhere.

This looks promising!

But first, I must get the blood moving. My kitchen mat makes a great outdoor exercise mat.

An interesting billboard for pet food. . .

Our tour guide did an excellent job of telling us all about the design and short history of this facility.

Opening day for the regular season is one week away so there is lots of activity. The grass sod is laid new every season.

This roof is fully retractable and this stadium is air conditioned. Summers here are unbearably hot.

To take the edge off you can part with a few thousand dollars and rent the pool to watch the game with your friends. There is even a pet section where you can watch with your dog.

The press gallery. No alcohol or cheering permitted here.

The dugout.

Are you dreaming of pitching here, Alex?

Grow lamps are employed all season long as the shade moves about the field.

The search is on for the perfect hat. Alex found one on the clearance rack and spent the afternoon wetting and forming it.

We are ready for Game #2.

We would like to have a seat, please.

Second row, above the dugout.

Warm up and batting practice.

Alex is hoping for a signature; however, the players were pretty focused.

Instead of being under the score board we can enjoy the flood of statistics throughout the game including the pitch velocity.

We are professional food and beverage regulation junkies. You can bring in a surprising array of food to the game. They have plenty of takers for the regular ball park fare of peanuts, cinnamon roasted almonds, cotton candy, popcorn, hotdogs and beverages.

We enjoyed watching some of the later pitchers with their submarine and side-arm techniques.
