Las Vegas - Teenager Style

The snowy, grey skies of Kelowna and our long days of driving seem like a lifetime ago.

Since we were here just three years ago I was not sure what Alex might want to do on this brief lay-over before continuing on to our goal - Spring Training baseball in Phoenix, AZ.

Alex's picks: Check out the Nike outlet store, enjoy a Coke float at the Coke shop on the strip and have dinner at a big buffet.

That's Las Vegas - teenager-style.

The morning sun brings new energies after a very long day on the road.

While Alex slept I set out to tour the park with a light jog. I was stopped by a family from Toronto when they saw my Canada shirt. At the 2 mile mark I thought that's enough of that and went to check out the pool, gym, camp store, restaurant and entry-way.

This 900+ site RV park is like being at an RV show. Not a speck of dirt to be seen and many interesting toys at every turn! A number of motorhomes had shiny Corvettes and Porches at the end of the driveway.  A few RV's were the recipients of various mobile cleaning services. Big rigs were being washed and buffed by eager teams of workers. You may not pull out the hose and wash your own unit. These mobile services are efficient and leave very little sign that they were ever there.

This looks promising!

I always enjoy poking through the camp store.

We are definitely not 'camping' anymore.

It is a good thing we have a door on the Gypsy Wagon. No one needs to see this mess :).  The blanket is to block the sun so that Alex can sleep. There is also a strategically placed can of generic corn under the TV holding a tea towel in place to block the blue light that the radio/DVD player screen emits. The trailer is still winterized and we have been lazy - time to drain the antifreeze and get that hot water tank fired up so that some dishes can get washed. This space needs a make-over.

Oh, my Instant Pot hard boiled eggs and green beans, how I have missed you!!  Power has its perks.

Don't forget where you put the plug to the hot water tank 6 months ago. Wrap it in that thin white tape and make your fingers into a pretzel to get it back in place. We have hot water!

We had a mid-morning relocation cruise a few rows over. Because we were early by a day, we had to move. It wasn't far. The parade of RV's leaving the park starts at about 7 am.  Las Vegas is a long way from anywhere.

Goal #1:  Nike Outlet Store - check! Alex tried on lots of shoes. This huge mall was only 10 minutes away.

Two pairs of soccer shin guards for Dominic $10.50 including tax, total. Love that clearance bin!

Wow, a McLaren in the parking lot. The doors open up like bird wings. Cool.

A quick trip to New York.

Goal #2:  A Coke Float at the Coke shop.  Alex has not been excited about being in pictures this trip. . . so, this is me with a Barq's root beer float.

I can cheerfully say that I have seen MANY runners today.

A little stop in Paris. . ..

Goal #3: Not quite yet. The buffet ended up having a huge line up at 7 pm Saturday night so we opted to have dinner at a Mexican Restaurant. The Bass Pro Shop in the same complex boasts a large fish tank/aquarium complete with a mermaid.  Who knew?!
